Welcome to our Parent Information Page. The table above provides a quick link to the information you may need. You can click
on each individual link to go directly to that section of the document. The title bars of each section are back links provided
that will return you to the table at the top of this page. You can also use the scroll bar at the right to scan through the
entire document.
The children may enter the building at the 8:10 bell. Children
who are eating breakfast at school will be allowed to enter the building earlier, but must report directly to the gym. Once
they finish eating they will be asked to return to their class line outside until the 8:10 bell rings. School
officially starts at 8:30 and our normal dismissal time is 3:15. Due to congestion in the halls, we ask that you wait for
your child outside. If there is a change in your child's after school routine, please send a DATED note in
your child's DAISY'S Notebook and/or call the office to let us know how the child is to get home. Without this communication
your child will be sent to his/her usual place.

Please make sure your child brings their tote bag / backpack and D.A.I.S.Y.'S. notebook everyday. For more information
about our D.A.I.S.Y.'S Notebook just click on the little bear and she'll show you more.

Lunch Money and Cold Lunch Lunch
money should be sent in an envelope labeled with your child's name. There is a money pouch in DAISY’S Notebook
to carry money back and forth to school. Please be sure that the lunch box or bag is labeled with your child's full
name.

The first part of the year is spent reviewing the alphabet and working on
letter formation. We will also review colors and color words. Each of the first nine

Red Day Monday, August 30th
Green Day
Tuesday, August 31st
Purple Day Wednesday, September

In Math, we will
be reviewing numbers, number formation and number words. We will be working on graphing, patterning, and
simple addition. Our first science unit will be insects with a special
focus on the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. In Social Studies we
will be studying the symbols of our country.

You are welcome to send treats to celebrate your child's birthday. If your child
has a summer birthday, it may be celebrated at your convenience.
Please make sure treats are easy to hand out (pre-cut, individual servings or individually wrapped).
Please DO NOT send party invitations to school for distribution as it causes hurt feelings for those who do not receive them.

In mid-September your child will begin bringing books home each day in a book bag to read each night. You will receive more information about this program at a later date.

Each month I will try to send book orders home with your child. You are not obligated to purchase books from these orders,
but if you do decide to order, please return the form and the money in an envelop, labeled with your child's name. Checks
should be written out to Scholastic.

We will be operating on a six-day cycle again this year. Monday, August 23rd is officially Day
1. In order for us to stay on the same cycle day as West and Middle School our first day of school (Tuesday,
August 24th) will be Day 2. Our class specials will be held on the following days: Day
1 --- P.E. and Computer
Day
2 --- Music
Day 3 --- P.E.
Day
4 --- Guidance Day
5 --- P.E. Day
6 --- Music and Library

Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing (no skirts or dresses) on P.E. days in order to participate
fully in the various activities. Girls may wish to bring a pair of shorts to leave in the classroom to wear under
their skirts or dresses in case they forget it's P.E. day. (Please check your child’s P.E. shoes before
sending them to school to make sure their shoestrings are not extremely long.)

You are welcome to visit our classroom at
any time, I do ask that you wait at least two weeks to allow us time to get our routine established. A
favorite thing some parents have done in past years was to come for lunch. We go to lunch at 11:25.
Please send a note or call the office a day or two in advance so we can notify the kitchen staff.

The beginning of a new school year can be exhausting. Try to encourage your child
positively and make sure he/she gets plenty of rest. Review papers in the D.A.I.S.Y.'S.
Notebook each night and ask your child questions about the day. Reading
to your child is one of the best gifts you can give. Try to set aside at least
ten minutes each day to read together.

*If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to contact
me at school between 8 AM and 4 PM (334-7425) or you can email me at reidykris@indytel.com I hope you will check
out our new classroom website often. I am still learning how to use this technology and hope you will feel free to comment
on our site and provide feedback as to what you would like to see added in the future.
Sincerely, Mrs. Reidy
